Can Bloggers Change the World?
Spoiler Alert: I think the answer is yes.
Join us for another #FHBC12 Twitter chat this Thursday May 10th at 6pm PST/9pm EST with Alexandra and Kymberly of www.funandfit.org. These twin sisters blog about all things health- and wellness-related on their blog and do it in a fun, engaging way that captures the attention of their audience.
Meet the sisters – an interview by our #FHBC12 chat partner, Bliss
There are thousands of bloggers on the web who write about health and fitness in some regard or another. With all of these voices speaking out on the web to create a healthier lifestyle (for either themselves, their audience, or both), one can’t help but wonder what kind of a difference bloggers actually make in the world. In this week’s #FHBC12 chat, we will be talking about how to engage your audience and imagining ways to make your blog an active tool for bringing about change.
The last time we held a chat, #FHBC12 made over a million impressions on Twitter in twenty-four hours. I couldn’t help but wonder, if coming together to talk about one topic for an hour could make that big of an impression, what other impact could the fitness and health bloggers make if they came together with one common goal?
May 13 – 19 is National Women’s Health Week and we want to see how big of an impression bloggers can make in spreading the word about women’s health awareness. NWHW’s website lists the following as their main points of focus:
“The theme for 2012 is ‘It’s Your Time.’ National Women’s Health Week empowers women to make their health a top priority. It also encourages women to take the following steps to improve their physical and mental health and lower their risks of certain diseases:
- Visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings.
- Get active.
- Eat healthy.
- Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
This is where you come in, Bloggers. Write a blog post between May 13 – 19 about any focus on women’s health and leave a link to your blog on this post. Come here to read fellow bloggers’ posts and to share each other’s thoughts. Embed the following image on your blog to link your readers back here, where they can view other posts!
